They apply to every article, audio summary, and piece of coverage we publish, and they exist so that readers, sources, and donors know what to expect from us.

Accuracy and Verification
We report facts we can verify. Where our reporting draws on government notices, ministry statements, official press releases, or comparable public documents, we link directly to the source so readers can check it themselves. Numbers involving currency, population, or scale are checked against the original document before publication, and we note when the government itself has not assessed or verified a figure or outcome.
Independence
GroundLens is reader- and donor-supported. We do not accept payment in exchange for coverage, and no donor, sponsor, or advisor is given editorial control, advance review, or veto power over a story. Our reporting answers to the communities we cover, not to any government, company, or political party. See our Funding & Independence page for details on how GroundLens is funded today.
Sourcing and Attribution
We identify our sources wherever possible and prefer named officials, publicly available documents, and on-the-record statements over anonymous claims. When we rely on a government statement or press release, we say so explicitly in the text and link to it. We distinguish clearly between what a source has confirmed and what remains an estimate, projection, or unverified claim.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it. Factual errors are corrected in the article as soon as they are identified, and significant corrections are noted at the bottom of the piece describing what changed and when. Readers can flag a possible error at any time through our Contact page.
Use of AI Tools
GroundLens covers artificial intelligence as a beat, and we also use AI tools in limited, disclosed ways in our own production — including generating spoken audio summaries of our articles for accessibility. AI tools are not used to invent facts, fabricate quotes, or generate reporting on our behalf. Every article reflects a named reporter's research and judgment, and any AI-assisted feature is clearly labeled as such on the page.
Fairness and Human Impact
We ask the same question across every beat we cover, whether it is AI policy, climate, healthcare, or the economy: how does this affect the people living through it? We seek out the perspective of the people most directly affected by a policy or a trend, not only officials and institutions, and we aim to make technical or bureaucratic subjects understandable to a general audience without oversimplifying them.
Conflicts of Interest
Contributors disclose any financial, personal, or organizational relationship that could reasonably be seen to influence a story before it is published. Where a conflict cannot be avoided, we disclose it to readers directly in the piece.
Reader Feedback
Every article includes a way for readers to react and reach us directly. We read feedback submitted through our reaction buttons and our Contact page, and we use it to inform corrections and future coverage.
